Clark Engineering is a leading Midwestern firm with a 78-year history providing quality engineering and surveying services, is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Municipal Market Sector Lead.

We are seeking a successful, dynamic professional with specific experience in municipal planning, design, contract administration, and project management. Our ideal candidate has a BS Degree in Civil Engineering, 10 or more years of proven success within the municipal sector, and a desire to build upon our municipal or county clientele.  This position could be located in any of our South Dakota offices – Aberdeen, Sioux Falls or Watertown.


  • Work with clients, government and regulatory agencies, and contractors.

  • Develop and/or enhance relationships with new and existing clients.

  • Provide effective project management and ensure successful project delivery.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring of other project team members including other engineers, land surveyors, and technical support staff.

  • Complete detailed design of municipal infrastructure (sewer, water, and roads).

  • Prepare municipal infrastructure master plans and feasibility studies.

  • Supervise contract administration of municipal projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering

  • PE license  – could be registered in SD, ND, MN, IA, NE, etc.

  • 10+ years experience in municipal engineering

  • Proven experience in municipal planning, design, contract administration and project management.

  • Experience in working with DOT markets and regulatory agencies.

  • Superior technical understanding and design capabilities.

  • Commitment to exemplary quality standards of professional practice, schedule and budget adherence, and deliverables.

  • Must be able to work cooperatively with clients, professionals from other disciplines, technical staff, business development staff, and operational leadership.

  • Working knowledge of design software (Civil 3D, HydroCAD, HEC RAS)

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills required.
