Lourdes High School

After years of careful planning, Lourdes High School completed a beautiful new school that is equipped to better address the dynamic educational expectations of today. The campus, located on a new 24-acre site in northwest Rochester, offers a distinct difference from the former downtown location that served as a high school since 1941.

The 167,500 square foot facility accommodates the current enrollment of 479 students in grades 9-12, but could house more than 525 students with room for future expansion. From a design standpoint, the spacious courtyard in front of the school’s entrance, combined with the interior open spaces, provides a newfound campus feel. The wide “arc-like” campus shape provides three main sections: athletics on one end of the campus, academics in the center, and fine arts with worship adjoining on the other end.

Some of the structural design features include the unique geometry of the chapel’s curved roof with tower, the exposed timber trusses at the entry, and the partially sunken gym that leveraged the site grade.
