La Quinta Emergency Response

In the early morning hours of June 8, 2015, a large part of the façade of the La Quinta Hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota, broke loose and fell about 14 floors to impact the roof area of the mechanical room area by the entry canopy. This caused serious structural damage and water damage due to a broken pipe. Clark worked closely with our client from the initial emergency response through restoration services until the hotel was reopened.

Clark completed a structural condition assessment of current conditions after the building façade failure. Services expanded into additional assessment of the remaining façade, including:

  • Laser scanning to identify the position of the façade
  • Structural design of repairs to the damaged roof structure
  • Restoration and revisions of the facade and damaged areas of the main and lower levels of the building
  • Guest room remodeling
  • Design of new mechanical room
  • Swimming pool refinishing
  • Repainting of the building
  • Window replacements, kitchen design
  • Food service code review
  • Compliance functions
