The City of Colman had been experiencing infiltration and inflow due to aged infrastructure. Clark Engineering assisted the City in securing grants and low-interest loans to replace it. The second phase of the project included 9,788 LF of 8-inch and 10-inch sanitary sewer piping, 6,834 LF of 6-inch water main, asphalt surfacing, seeding, and traffic control.
The design of the sanitary sewer system enabled the City to eliminate a second lift station. Clark worked with the County to pave the county road at Main Street in town, and coordinated with the contractor and the City around the events of the annual town celebration.
A contaminated site was discovered during construction. Clark worked with the contractor and the City to remove contaminated soils, and assisted the City in an emergency water main connection. Clark designed the emergency connection layout to fit in the tight area adjacent to the existing structures, and planned for the next phase of the project.
