Lincoln County Airport

Lincoln County Airport is the third busiest airstrip in South Dakota and was in need of replacement. Clark Engineering, together with M.C. Schaff & Associates, was hired to provide a solution. Collaboratively, we designed an upgraded airstrip that replaced the rundown asphalt with concrete, which reduced future runway maintenance costs and improved durability.

In order to minimize air traffic disruptions, the project needed to be completed on a fast-track schedule. Together with the client it was determined the most efficient approach involved a complete airport shut-down. The project was successfully completed in only 80 days with Clark Engineering providing survey, civil engineering, and construction oversight services.

Additionally, the project was also completed under budget due to the thorough design work on the front end. This allowed for additional improvements to be made to the airport, including security gate upgrades and tarmac repairs. The new and improved runway, along with the additional improvements, has revitalized this important South Dakota airport for long-term use and growth.
