Clark designed and analyzed the steel support structure, including connections, for the 7FA gas turbine inlet filtration system. The support structure is installed on the top of a building, necessitating tight adherence to dimensional requirements due to the interface with the building structure and inlet centerline. The structure was designed to high wind and moderate seismic loads and supports equipment four stories in height. The structural steel was designed using British beam shapes and EN design specifications.
In addition to the structural design, Clark provided a 3D model interface analysis “clash detection” of the steel support structure and equipment being supported. This interface analysis was used to provide coordination between suppliers and adjustments to support the steel structure to ensure field fit-up.
